Director & Accredited Exercise Physiologist

Simone Todd graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise and Sports Science) and is an accredited Exercise Physiologist with Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA). With a career spanning 20-years, Simone has worked within the Health and Fitness as well as the Rehabilitation industries. Simone worked as a certified personal trainer followed by strength and conditioning coach with high level sports teams and institute athletes whilst completing her university degree. Once Simone graduated from university and became an Accredited Exercise Physiologist, she has continued to work as both clinician and consultant within these industries, working with patients from all walks of life and all levels within corporate organisations.

As a former national athlete in track and field, swimming and gymnastics. Striving for optimal health and performance from both a physical and mindset perspective within all aspects of life are in Simone’s DNA. Her grit, dynamic and grounded approach coupled with her results-focused delivery makes her a favourite amongst clients, customers and peers.

It was from the personal experience of sustaining various sporting injuries whilst competing in multiple high-level sports but predominately a severe neck injury in 2004 that led Simone to the world of rehabilitation and injury prevention. This process of physical and mental recovery significantly shaped her views and beliefs, reinforcing the importance of a positive mindset and balanced approach to health and wellbeing.

Simone is an industry leader in her field and was most recently a finalist for the ESSA International Women’s Day Award, nominated by her peers, in recognition of leadership, excellence, passion and desire for change within the exercise and sports science industry.

A member of other leading international industry bodies in addition to ESSA – including American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) in the USA, Global Wellness Institute, Wellness Council of America (WELCOA) and Sports Medicine Australia (SMA); she is continually staying abreast of the latest evidence-based practices. Simone has an arsenal of knowledge and skills that have enabled her to be the go-to person to provide specialised care and achieve the best scenario results with complex cases.

An authority in her field, Simone is called upon to present to businesses about health and wellbeing and has been the driving force for behaviour change; reducing absenteeism and improving injury prevention within the workplace from both a physical and mental health perspective.

Functional Health Australia is a culmination of the wealth of knowledge gained through Simone and her team’s continual edification and vast experiences that they have acquired over their extensive careers – all of which underpin their philosophy of the five key elements to achieving holistic health;
